About the role

  • Lead development and execution of proactive media content to position BCPF as a trusted and visible voice in outdoor recreation and conservation.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with journalists and producers across local, national, and sector-specific outlets.
  • Identify and nurture relationships with influencers, media partners, and aligned organizations to amplify BCPF’s voice through cross-promotion, co-branded stories, or collaborative campaigns.
  • Identify, shape, and pitch compelling stories that earn coverage and spark public interest and engagement.
  • Monitor news cycles and social trends to position BCPF in timely and relevant conversations.
  • Develop fresh, resonant content angles across traditional and digital channels that cut through attention fatigue.
  • Work with teams across BCPF to translate initiatives into media-worthy and viral-ready stories that advance organizational goals.
  • Produce multimedia press materials and assets that blend editorial storytelling with visual and social appeal for broad distribution.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in journalism, media relations, strategic communications, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of securing high-impact earned media coverage across local and national outlets.
  • Experience building and managing strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and media partners.
  • Excellent writing, pitching, and editorial content production skills, including press materials, opinion pieces, and digital features.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring, performance analytics, and metrics-driven storytelling.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams and with subject matter experts to translate complex initiatives into accessible narratives.
