About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Baystate Health, Medical Assistants perform an important role providing care to our patients.
  • They take vital signs, perform patient intake and history, clinical orders, procedures, documentation and patient discharge.
  • Our supportive work environment allows you to provide optimal patient care.
  • Full-time schedules vary from 7:30am - 5:30pm. Most schedules are M-Fri; NO Holidays. Some schedules include evening and/or Sat morning shifts.
  • Various opportunities in both primary care and specialty practices are available.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED
  • CPR-Basic Life Support of Healthcare Provider required from the American Heart Association
  • MAI - Graduate of an accredited MA program preferred OR demonstrated competencies of MA I (evaluated by hiring manager) with minimum 1 year experience in a medical office.
  • MAII - Graduate of an accredited MA program OR demonstrated competencies of MA II (evaluated by hiring manager for level hiring for) with minimum 3 years’ current relevant medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting.
  • MAIII - Graduate of an accredited MA program with a minimum of 5 years’ current relevant medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred OR demonstrated competencies of MA III (evaluated by hiring manager) with a minimum of 5 years’ current relevant medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting OR minimum of two years as an MA II at a Baystate Health with demonstrated competencies of MA III.
  • MAIV - (Internal career ladder) Minimum of two years as an MA III at Baystate Health with demonstrated competencies for promotion to MA IV. Graduate of an accredited MA program and registered/certified by a third-party credential body.
  • Credentialing must be awarded by a third-party credentialing body which can be obtained through: 1. Registered through Medical Assistant (ARMA) - (Minimum Requirement); 2. Registered through American Medical Technologist (AMT) association; or 3. Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA); or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or 4. Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
