About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership for Baylor Genetics’ end-to-end supply chain supporting a genetics reference laboratory
  • Develop and execute supply chain strategy aligned with growth, testing volumes, customer requirements, quality standards, and financial objectives
  • Lead demand planning, inventory management, materials planning, replenishment, forecasting, and supply availability
  • Establish inventory strategies, safety-stock levels, reorder points, service-level targets, and supply-chain KPIs
  • Ensure continuity of laboratory reagents, consumables, collection materials, packaging, and other operational supplies
  • Lead strategic procurement, category strategies, supplier agreements, negotiations, supplier partnerships, and supplier-performance management
  • Optimize inbound and outbound logistics for specimen collection, transportation, testing, reporting, and storage
  • Improve specimen turnaround time, transport reliability, specimen integrity, and cost per specimen
  • Lead collection-kit assembly and fulfillment operations, including configurations, materials, labor, inventory, capacity, and production planning
  • Establish and lead an enterprise-wide Lean Continuous Improvement program
  • Apply value-stream mapping, root-cause analysis, Kaizen, standard work, visual management, and process control
  • Establish and lead a centralized Operations Analytics function
  • Build dashboards, analytical tools, predictive and prescriptive analytics, operational data sources, and performance-reporting routines
  • Use data to identify cost reduction, capacity optimization, process improvement, and customer-service opportunities
  • Build, develop, and lead teams across supply chain, logistics, materials management, procurement, kitting, operational excellence, and analytics
  • Partner cross-functionally with Laboratory Operations, Quality & Regulatory, Client Services, Finance, IT/Data, Product Development, R&D, Medical/Scientific Leadership, HR, Legal, and Compliance
  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership and translate enterprise strategy into operational priorities and measurable execution plans
  • Travel up to 50% to support on-site Kaizen and operational improvement workshops

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Operations and/or Operations Excellence
  • 5+ years in senior leadership roles at Executive Director, VP, or above level
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple operational functions and building high-performing teams
  • Experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, inventory management, logistics, and supply-chain optimization
  • Demonstrated success leading Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement initiatives
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, with experience using data to drive operational decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, costs, working capital, and business cases
  • Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation, and executive leadership skills
  • Preferred: experience in genetics, molecular diagnostics, clinical laboratory, biotechnology, healthcare, or another highly regulated environment
  • Preferred: experience managing biological specimens or other time- and quality-sensitive materials
  • Preferred: experience with laboratory kit assembly, fulfillment, or collection-kit operations
  • Preferred: experience implementing or scaling Operations Analytics/business intelligence functions
  • Preferred: Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Preferred: advanced degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
  • Ability to work in an office or laboratory setting
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and operate standard office equipment and technology tools
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically
