About the role
- Oversee the commercial and contractual delivery of construction projects across the portfolio
- Manage external contractors, Council relationships, and internal stakeholders to meet project and contractual obligations
- Ensure builds are completed on time, to specification, and within budget while maintaining commercial control
- Lead contractor selection, appointment, performance management, and compliance including H&S, CDM 2015 and NRSWA
- Maintain build and installation specifications, technical data, and site information across internal systems
- Coordinate closely with internal teams to align builds with business goals
- Work with Site Inspectors to ensure installation readiness and track remedial actions
- Maintain understanding of contractual obligations with councils and partners and monitor contract performance
- Validate construction delivery aligns with estate contract terms and operational SLAs and flag anomalies
- Identify and track risks to budget, timeline, and delivery scope and recommend mitigations
- Analyse cost data and project margins to support commercial decisions
- Provide feedback on commercial and estate optimisation opportunities
- Act as main point of contact during contract and construction delivery and build strong relationships with Brighton & Hove council, highways departments and contractors
- Keep project data and status regularly updated across key platforms and maintain accurate records of work orders, purchase orders, contractor updates, build specs and site status
- Track site data to ensure consistency between contract terms, system records and the physical estate
- Use system reporting to support programme tracking, risk identification and contract compliance
Requirements
- Strong background in contract and construction project management
- Experience managing contractors and delivering multi-site build programmes
- Commercial acumen and confident decision-making on project cost, delivery, and compliance
- Comfortable managing complex stakeholder environments (internal and external)
- Familiar with CDM 2015, NRSWA and H&S best practices
- Skilled in negotiation and supplier management
- Knowledge of estate and landlord contract structures desirable
- Confident working with internal systems (e.g. EAM or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
- Preferred (but not essential): SMSTS / IOSH / NEBOSH
- Preferred (but not essential): Prince2 or equivalent project qualification
- Preferred (but not essential): HNC in Construction or equivalent
