About the role

  • Oversee the commercial and contractual delivery of construction projects across the portfolio
  • Manage external contractors, Council relationships, and internal stakeholders to meet project and contractual obligations
  • Ensure builds are completed on time, to specification, and within budget while maintaining commercial control
  • Lead contractor selection, appointment, performance management, and compliance including H&S, CDM 2015 and NRSWA
  • Maintain build and installation specifications, technical data, and site information across internal systems
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams to align builds with business goals
  • Work with Site Inspectors to ensure installation readiness and track remedial actions
  • Maintain understanding of contractual obligations with councils and partners and monitor contract performance
  • Validate construction delivery aligns with estate contract terms and operational SLAs and flag anomalies
  • Identify and track risks to budget, timeline, and delivery scope and recommend mitigations
  • Analyse cost data and project margins to support commercial decisions
  • Provide feedback on commercial and estate optimisation opportunities
  • Act as main point of contact during contract and construction delivery and build strong relationships with Brighton & Hove council, highways departments and contractors
  • Keep project data and status regularly updated across key platforms and maintain accurate records of work orders, purchase orders, contractor updates, build specs and site status
  • Track site data to ensure consistency between contract terms, system records and the physical estate
  • Use system reporting to support programme tracking, risk identification and contract compliance

Requirements

  • Strong background in contract and construction project management
  • Experience managing contractors and delivering multi-site build programmes
  • Commercial acumen and confident decision-making on project cost, delivery, and compliance
  • Comfortable managing complex stakeholder environments (internal and external)
  • Familiar with CDM 2015, NRSWA and H&S best practices
  • Skilled in negotiation and supplier management
  • Knowledge of estate and landlord contract structures desirable
  • Confident working with internal systems (e.g. EAM or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Preferred (but not essential): SMSTS / IOSH / NEBOSH
  • Preferred (but not essential): Prince2 or equivalent project qualification
  • Preferred (but not essential): HNC in Construction or equivalent
