About the role

  • Lead civil and structural engineering design activities across all phases of small to medium sized brownfield capital and expense projects at the BASF Freeport site.
  • Scope development, cost estimating, preparation of specifications and construction packages, quality assurance, and providing technical support during construction.
  • Deliver technical support and solutions for civil and structural maintenance activities at the Freeport facility, such as annual inspections, studies, and repair planning.
  • Perform inspections of steel structures, civil infrastructure, and bridges across the plant, including condition assessments, documentation, and development of repair and maintenance recommendations.
  • Provide Civil and Structural engineering expertise for small – medium capital projects and expense projects, including specification development, detailed design, material take‑offs, and construction support of site infrastructure.
  • Guide Civil designers on scoping, deliverables, and quality assurance activities, ensuring alignment with BASF Technical Standards, industry standards, and regulatory codes.
  • Partner with the High‑Value Engineering (HVE) Center to execute detailed engineering through work‑share, providing oversight to ensure compliance with project scope, BASF Technical Standards, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive value through sound engineering judgment by identifying cost‑reduction opportunities, proposing value‑based design alternatives, and collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Construction, and technical committees.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor Degree of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of experience in chemical or petrochemical industries, or similar industry supporting both capital projects and plant maintenance.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills, and ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment.
  • A Professional Engineer license (Preferred).
