About the role

  • Lead and implement tax strategies for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, optimizing tax efficiency and ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws.
  • Oversee all aspects of direct and indirect tax operations, ensuring accuracy and timely compliance across the diverse APAC markets.
  • Implement robust risk management practices to identify and mitigate tax-related risks, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with tax authorities, external advisors, and internal stakeholders, providing strategic tax advice to support regional business initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Group tax director, CFO and VP of Finance to develop and implement tax strategies that optimize the company's tax position across the APAC region.
  • Ensure effective implementation of tax policies and practices that enhance compliance and minimize risks.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of direct and indirect tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Identify and manage tax risks, implementing strategies to mitigate exposure and liabilities.
  • Establish compliance frameworks for tax activities, thereby ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations in all jurisdictions within the region.
  • Coordinate the management of tax audits and inquiries, working with external advisors and tax authorities as needed.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with tax authorities and external advisors to facilitate compliance and leverage tax opportunities.
  • Provide strategic tax advisory services to senior management, supporting decision-making processes and optimizing tax efficiency.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Advanced qualifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent are highly advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in tax management, including expertise in direct and indirect tax, within a multinational corporation.
  • Experience in the chemicals industry or related sectors is beneficial, particularly in establishing new finance functions.
  • Extensive knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and international tax principles specific to the APAC region.
  • Proficiency in tax software, SAP, and advanced MS Office skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a proven ability to navigate complex tax environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with senior leadership and external partners.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin. Other relevant languages for the APAC region is advantageous for effective collaboration.
