About the role

  • You will report operationally to the Coatings EMEA Legal Manager and administratively to the President of BASF Coatings France based in Breuil-le-Sec
  • You will provide your legal expertise to the legal entities of BASF Group’s EC division in France (Coatings, Coatings Services, Chemetall) and to a portfolio of legal entities across Europe
  • Provide strategic and day-to-day legal support in corporate/business law and entity compliance, working directly with commercial and operational colleagues
  • Monitor legislative developments and inform management of changes in law
  • Manage corporate administrative matters (shareholders’ resolutions, delegations of authority, mergers, contributions, capital transactions, etc.)
  • Draft and negotiate various commercial agreements (e.g., distribution, supply, agency agreements, services, licenses, confidentiality agreements/NDAs, letters of intent, subcontracting, procurement, general terms and conditions)
  • Advise and assist operational staff on competition/antitrust law matters
  • Monitor and manage antitrust-related litigation (in liaison with external counsel)
  • Act as Compliance Officer: serve as a point of contact and case manager for enforcement of the company’s Code of Conduct
  • Implement global policies and guidelines of BASF Coatings and Chemetall, advise on their impact in France and other countries, and train personnel of BASF Coatings’ legal entities accordingly
  • Provide legal advice for domestic M&A transactions and other strategic projects of the business units in France

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business/corporate law or equivalent
  • Approximately ten years of professional experience as a generalist in-house counsel in an international industrial environment
  • Fluent English, enabling you to communicate with various stakeholders within the Division and in the scope of your duties
  • German language skills are a plus
  • Recognized for business acumen, responsiveness and autonomy
  • Strong adaptability and excellent communication skills
  • Willing to undertake regular short trips to our various sites in France and hold a valid driving license
