About the role

  • Lead planning and business implementation of BASF Traits in specific crops to maximize value extraction through BASF-branded seed products or third-party seed licensing. Work with internal stakeholders on industry benchmarking, long-range planning, and trait strategy development. Include trait valuation, business case creation, brand management, and life cycle oversight. Lead Asset Teams, launch new traits, and expand the portfolio into new countries. Manage global Trait Business activities, negotiate licenses, and ensure compliance with brand stewardship requirements. Collaborate with functions including Strategy, Product Development, Portfolio Management, Legal, Stewardship, and Regulatory. Work closely with Regional Strategic Marketing colleagues to align and coordinate activities globally. Link value proposition of BASF traits to customer needs and operate global trait business models. Build solutions in negotiations with third-party licensees and manage cross-functional details.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a Business field; MBA preferred. Possess 7-10 years of relevant professional experience, with 3+ years of progressive marketing experience. Demonstrate competency in strategic and analytical thinking. Have experience with contract basics and the legal framework for licensing preferred. Maintain a working knowledge of the seed business, breeding, and trait commercialization preferred. Exhibit excellent communication, negotiation, and diplomacy skills; fluency in English required. Are willing and able to travel one-third of the time, both domestically and internationally. Are looking for a hybrid role, this position requires 3 days onsite at our RTP, NC location and 2 days remote.
