About the role
- Develop and execute content strategies that advance business development objectives and strengthen the firm’s thought leadership
- Oversee all written communications including website content, blog posts, client alerts, bylined articles, and other marketing materials
- Manage the biography and headshot process for all attorneys, legal professionals and key personnel across the firm
- Lead the firm’s awards, rankings, and survey nomination program, securing regional and national recognition for attorneys and practices
- Collaborate with partners, associates, and practice groups to identify content opportunities and coordinate publication schedules
- Maintain an editorial calendar to ensure consistent, high-quality content delivery across all marketing platforms
- Supervise a Content Strategy Coordinator, providing direction across all aspects of content creation, development, and management
- Shepherd sophisticated legal content through the production process, including thought leadership articles, client alerts, case studies, and blog posts
- Edit and refine complex legal analyses into clear, engaging content for various audiences including clients, prospects, and industry publications
- Own the firm’s editorial style guide, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency across all marketing content
- Ensure all content upholds the firm’s voice, brand standards, and legal advertising requirements
- Oversee content production workflows from conception through publication
- Manage relationships with external vendors including freelance writers and PR agencies
- Partner with web development teams to optimize content for digital platforms
- Track content performance metrics and refine strategies based on engagement data
- Partner with attorneys to develop content that showcases their credentials and perspective
- Collaborate with client growth and regional marketing teams to align content with firm initiatives
- Coordinate the content sharing process with the proposal and client development teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or related field
- 10+ years in content, marketing, or communications roles with law firm experience preferred
- Demonstrated success managing content strategy in complex, regulated industries
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail
- Strong understanding of legal industry terminology, practices, and marketing regulations
- Fluency with content management systems, social media platforms, and digital marketing tools
- Strong project management skills; proven ability to manage competing priorities under deadline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based publishing platforms
- Strategic mindset with a clear line from content to business outcomes
- Collaborative working style with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential client information
- Ability to work effectively with attorneys and staff at all levels of the firm.
