About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the development, maintenance, and enhancement of desktop procedures supporting economic crime risk management and controls across Business Banking.
  • Act as the central point of expertise for procedural documentation.
  • Ensure processes remain accurate, effective, and aligned with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct ongoing horizon scanning for emerging regulatory and policy changes.
  • Assess the impact of regulatory and policy changes and translate them into clear, practical procedural updates.
  • Work with stakeholders across the business to drive consistency and strengthen control environments.
  • Maintain a robust and compliant approach to managing economic crime risk.
  • Advise key stakeholders, functional leadership teams, and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work and business-aligned support areas.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive first-line Economic Crime experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks across business operations and products.
  • Proven Financial Services sector experience.
  • Ample understanding of Business Banking products, customers, and associated risk frameworks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK financial crime legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices relating to Economic Crime and risk management.
  • Good analytical mindset and exceptional attention to detail when assessing risks and reviewing onboarding activities.
  • Experience producing high-quality written documentation.
  • Proven experience drafting and maintaining desktop procedures, standards, and guidance materials.
  • Experience conducting horizon scanning for emerging regulatory and industry developments.
  • Ability to communicate insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including Senior VPs.
  • Understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and industry guidance, including JMLSG requirements and best practices.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and enhancing risk and control frameworks across the customer lifecycle.
  • Recognised financial crime qualification such as ICA AML Diploma, ACAMS, or equivalent is highly valued but not required.
