About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Risk Function in safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability.
- Lead the economic crime risk framework across the onboarding stage of the customer lifecycle.
- Act as a trusted subject matter expert and key escalation point for complex onboarding matters.
- Design and enhance risk and control frameworks.
- Support onboarding of new-to-bank customers and clients across all business areas.
- Ensure effective implementation of regulatory, policy, and process changes.
- Provide leadership and oversight on economic crime risk.
- Drive consistency in onboarding practices.
- Take a holistic view across the full customer lifecycle to identify, mitigate, and manage emerging risks.
- Deliver a seamless customer experience.
- Advise key stakeholders and senior management on functional and cross-functional impacts.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment in support of control and governance.
- Collaborate across business-aligned support areas and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Develop innovative solutions through sophisticated analysis, research, and comparison of complex alternatives.
- Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams where applicable.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated people leadership experience, with ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
- Extensive first-line Economic Crime experience.
- Expertise identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks across business operations and products.
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proven Financial Services sector experience.
- Understanding of FinTech, Corporate and/or Business Banking products, customers, and risk frameworks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK financial crime legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Exceptional influencing and execution capabilities.
- Experience driving outcomes and delivering strategic projects across complex cross-functional environments.
- Knowledge of onboarding processes and industry best practices.
- Understanding of AI concepts and practical application across the customer lifecycle.
- Recognised financial crime qualification such as ICA AML Diploma, ACAMS, or equivalent is highly valued.
