About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform prescription order entry and insurance adjudication for centralized specialty and home delivery prescriptions
  • Process prescriptions efficiently using dispensing software
  • Coordinate prescription delivery with patients and caregivers
  • Resolve insurance and claims issues and communicate anticipated delays
  • Synchronize patient medication refills using available software tools
  • Serve as the primary patient contact for medication fulfillment needs
  • Escalate clinical questions to pharmacists and unresolved problems to pharmacists or managers
  • Provide empathetic, compassionate service to patients and caregivers
  • Collaborate with the onsite central pharmacy dispensing team to coordinate services and fulfillment
  • Complete assigned tasks by the end of the shift
  • Assist in training new staff and contribute to team meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy Technician registration must be completed with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy by date of hire if not already registered
  • No testing is required for registration; completed application and fee are required
  • Previous retail, mail order, central, or call center pharmacy work experience highly preferred
  • Work under pharmacist supervision
  • Ability to perform prescription order entry and insurance processing
  • Ability to use dispensing software and resolve claims issues
  • Ability to coordinate delivery with patients and caregivers
  • Ability to escalate clinical questions and unresolved problems appropriately
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, multi-skilled pharmacy call center environment
