About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic
  • Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow
  • Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures
  • Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers
  • This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required
  • Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
  • Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required
  • Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire
  • Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant: Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
  • Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
