About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic
- Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow
- Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures
- Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy
- Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers
- This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required
- Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
- Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required
- Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire
- Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant: Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
- Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
