About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care for pediatric patients
  • Provide medical care to children from birth through late teens in a 40+ bed pediatric unit
  • Care for patients with orthopedic, surgical, gastrointestinal, neurological, endocrine, oncology and general pediatric conditions
  • Review patient histories, diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results
  • Formulate and revise individualized plans of care and discharge plans
  • Deliver direct patient care and coordinate, delegate and supervise healthcare team activities
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching
  • Document nursing assessments, interventions, physician orders and patient responses
  • Participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting and mentoring
  • Contribute to nursing quality improvement and patient outcome initiatives
  • Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, external providers and clergy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
  • BLS certification is required
  • Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
  • Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
  • RN Pediatric experience required
  • Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work through annual validations
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Professional certification preferred
  • Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen and background check is required
