About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the accounting needs for research departments at Banner Alzheimer's Institute
  • Create and update financial forecast reports for research departments
  • Prepare and present financial forecasts
  • Participate in month-end close
  • Prepare reconciliations and journal entries
  • Assist with post-award grant activities
  • Gather and analyze statistics and financial information
  • Generate monthly, bi-weekly, and ad hoc financial reports
  • Work with management and staff to gather and interpret financial data
  • Maintain the integrity of financial information systems, statistical files, databases, and reporting
  • Collaborate with analysts on operating budgets, forecasts, program reporting and analysis, charge management, cost accounting, decision support, and reimbursement analysis
  • Provide financial modeling resources for management-assigned special projects
  • Identify useful data elements, outliers, trends, variances, and operating improvement opportunities
  • Present data and analysis results to appropriate parties
  • Prepare reports and presentations for state and federal agencies, administration, and corporate stakeholders
  • Educate financial reporting system users and non-financial staff on financial tools, resources, and analysis
  • Provide financial analysis support for multiple facilities within the Western Region when assigned
  • Consult with department directors, administration, Data Operations, Financial Services, Banner Health personnel, governmental agencies, healthcare facilities, professional organizations, and vendors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Three to four years of experience in healthcare financial management/analysis work
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with changing needs and deadlines
  • Excellent human relations skills
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and outside professionals
  • Strong abilities in statistical analysis and data interpretation
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, database and spreadsheet programs
  • Proficiency in financial modeling techniques to generate management reports, projections, allocations, and analyses
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to read and understand grant contracts and notices of awards, including terms and conditions
  • Team player able to understand both the bigger picture and detail
