About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the senior regional marketing and public relations program director on regional marketing and public relations activities
  • Lead and coordinate teams to create region-specific content strategies and manage workflow objectives
  • Maintain Banner Health’s positive reputation and manage regional reputational risks
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate corporate communications strategies
  • Manage inbound and outbound news media requests and serve as a Banner spokesperson as needed
  • Conduct proactive earned media outreach through pitches, press releases, and digital postings
  • Select and brief appropriate spokespeople for earned media interviews
  • Collaborate across Customer & Brand Experience to leverage earned media across platforms and audiences
  • Keep regional stakeholders informed about media activities, reputation risks, and favorable coverage
  • Lead special projects, initiative teams, entity committees, and cross-functional groups
  • Mentor and develop junior team members and support hiring and onboarding
  • Lead complex digital projects, including technology evaluation, troubleshooting, documentation, vendor management, and reporting
  • Manage project budgets and resources, track ROI, and provide data-driven insights
  • Participate in disaster committees and an on-call rotation for unexpected events

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent working knowledge in Public Relations, Communications, or Marketing
  • Five to seven years of progressive experience in public relations, communications, and/or marketing
  • Demonstrated leadership or project management experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of public relations, earned media industry processes, and/or marketing
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Superior project management and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities
  • Sensitivity to public perceptions and their implications
  • Working knowledge of healthcare, mass communication, and earned media trends preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with nonprofit marketing communications preferred
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and cross-functional teams preferred
  • Healthcare provider environment experience preferred
