About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform prescribed nuclear medicine procedures according to referring providers’ orders and department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures and treatments
  • Produce high-quality images and prepare them with pertinent patient information for timely interpretation
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation
  • Perform prescribed invasive/interventional procedures when applicable
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and approved medications
  • Perform and evaluate equipment quality-control measurements
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and notify appropriate personnel
  • Maintain a safe environment and follow safety policies, including ALARA principles for radioactive materials
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical, legal, and professional radiology responsibilities
  • Ensure efficient departmental workflow and maintain adequate supplies inventory
  • Collaborate with medical imaging, nursing, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, patients, families, and regulatory/health agencies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic/Nuclear Medicine Technology program
  • National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Nuclear Board and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or equivalent
  • Licensure by the state regulatory agency if applicable
  • Advanced specialty certification within 18 months of hire if applicable
  • BLS certification required
  • Clinical knowledge typically achieved with 2 years of experience
  • Effective communication and human relations skills
  • Ability to analyze data and solve problems
  • Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen, and background check required
