Registered Nurse, Lactation Consultant
Banner HealthLactation Consultant RN at Banner Health supporting breastfeeding in L&D and NICU. Collaborating with healthcare team to educate patients and staff on lactation best practices.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Rounding on patients in L&D, Postpartum, and the NICU to assist with breastfeeding
- Provide education about breastfeeding, latching, and pumping to both patients and staff
- Developing feeding plans
- Collaborating with pediatricians and speech therapy
- Assessing patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs
- Formulating individualized lactation plans of care, education and intervention
- Delivering continuing education programs related to lactation
- Documenting assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current RN licensure in state of practice
- IBCLC, CLC, CBC or CBS certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification must be obtained within six months
- Pool/per diem positions require a minimum of one year of lactation consultant experience in a WIS environment or setting.
- BSN preferred
- One year of experience preferred
- Experience in an inpatient WIS environment is preferred.
