About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Rounding on patients in L&D, Postpartum, and the NICU to assist with breastfeeding
  • Provide education about breastfeeding, latching, and pumping to both patients and staff
  • Developing feeding plans
  • Collaborating with pediatricians and speech therapy
  • Assessing patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs
  • Formulating individualized lactation plans of care, education and intervention
  • Delivering continuing education programs related to lactation
  • Documenting assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current RN licensure in state of practice
  • IBCLC, CLC, CBC or CBS certification required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification must be obtained within six months
  • Pool/per diem positions require a minimum of one year of lactation consultant experience in a WIS environment or setting.
  • BSN preferred
  • One year of experience preferred
  • Experience in an inpatient WIS environment is preferred.
