About the role
- Prepares for surgical procedures
- Anticipates the surgeon's needs
- Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure
- Ensures that all surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate
- Assists with OR turnover between cases
- Participates in or leads the training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students
- May provide business support to the department including administrative tasks
- Follows safety procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Current basic life support certification
- Current certification as a surgical technologist
- Skills and abilities typically attained with two or more years of operating room experience
- Proficiency to scrub in a minimum of two surgical specialties
