About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute second line of defense compliance and operational risk oversight for Front Line Units, Control Functions, and/or third parties
- Ensure Global Compliance Enterprise Policy, Operational Risk Management Enterprise Policy, Compliance and Operational Risk Management Program, and Standard Operating Procedures are implemented
- Identify, challenge, escalate, and mitigate risks in a timely manner
- Provide oversight and challenge for Global Operations Technology and Client Data Platforms and Enterprise Risk and Finance Technology
- Assess risks and effectiveness of Front-Line Unit processes and controls for compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
- Respond to regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations
- Provide independent compliance and operational risk oversight of Front-Line Unit or Control Function performance and related third-party/vendor relationships
- Identify and escalate problems and drive root-cause remediation actions
- Conduct monitoring and independent reviews of Front-Line Units
- Monitor process, risk, control, and metric inventories for risk appetite and limits
- Report compliance or regulatory violations
- Assist in developing independent risk management reporting for country/regional governance and management routines
- Analyze and interpret laws, rules, and regulations to advise stakeholders and manage risks
- Review and challenge process, risk, Single Process Inventory, and Risk and Control Self-Assessment themes and trends
- Monitor the regulatory environment for changes applicable to areas of coverage
- Monitor and assess adherence to Global Technology policies and standards
- Perform inline reviews of ITGPST issue management activities, including remediation of regulatory issues
- Work with senior leaders across Global Technology and Risk to influence decisions on AI technology risk
- Help define risk management approaches for AI, accessibility, and developer enablement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of seven years of relevant experience
- May require regulatory examination/registration or certification, depending on jurisdiction and role
- AI and Generative AI risk expertise
- AI platform operations and monitoring experience
- Technology controls and operational risk management experience
- Observability, monitoring, and alert management understanding and tool experience
- Change management and lifecycle governance expertise
- Data analysis and risk reporting capabilities
- Experience with cloud and AI platforms
- Compliance, Operational Risk, or Technology Risk experience
- Proven background in risk-related disciplines
- Strong experience with the Global Compliance & Operational Risk program from a 1st or 2nd line perspective
- Ability to translate complex risk concepts into clear, actionable guidance
- Ability to engage at the executive level and shape outcomes
- Ability to leverage AI tools and data to inform risk assessments and drive decision-making
- Familiarity with GCOR programs, Global Technology policies, processes and risks
- Skill in identifying, assessing, and remediating operational risks and issues
- Proficiency in generating actionable insights through data analysis and reporting tools
- Ability to build trust, challenge constructively, and partner effectively across the enterprise
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (desired)
- Experience in financial services and/or a similarly regulated sector (desired)
- Second or third line of defense experience or experience in a business risk and controls role (desired)
- Strong familiarity with the Global Compliance & Operational Risk program and related tools/applications (desired)
- Familiarity with technology controls, cybersecurity, and IT Governance (desired)
- Familiarity with Global Technology policies and standards (desired)
- Familiarity with technology support functions, relevant regulations and business risks (desired)
- Familiarity with the Issues Management program and tools (desired)
- Demonstrated success leading targeted assessments, audits, or regulatory exam engagements, including authoring responses, report outs and observations (desired)
- Proficiency in analysis, reporting and related applications (desired)
