About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer and support business development for Merrill Family Office Services’ ultra-high net worth clients
  • Manage complex and multi-tiered ownership structures and coordination between family entities
  • Oversee the holistic delivery of integrated MFOS products and services with Merrill Financial Advisor teams
  • Prepare or review complex federal and multi-state tax returns for high net worth individuals, gifts, S corporations, partnerships, trusts, and foundations
  • Prepare or review income tax projections for quarterly payments and significant life events
  • Monitor tax legislation and assess its impact on clients
  • Own client relationships and deliverables
  • Research tax issues and provide timely guidance to clients
  • Participate in practice development, new business generation, and cross-selling
  • Resolve client issues and analyze data for risk issues and trends
  • Escalate and resolve complex client inquiries and problems
  • Document client interactions and provide time-sensitive team updates
  • Attend client review meetings, document notes in Salesforce, and track actions and activities
  • Advise and assist with training team members
  • Foster a positive team culture and support management decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 to 10 years of technical tax experience in public accounting or related field
  • Strong analytical skills and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of tax return preparation, review, and processing
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a multi-task environment
  • Willingness to meet client deadlines and expectations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Proficiency in Thomson Reuters GoSystem, SurePrep, and BNA Income Tax Planner
  • CPA or master’s degree in accounting/taxation preferred
