About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Providing legal counsel on products, services, and regulatory matters related to the Global Banking and Global Markets businesses
- Reviewing legal documents and interpreting laws and regulations
- Performing legal research and communicating legal advice to internal partners
- Directing the work of outside counsel and coordinating the work of Paralegals or other Legal staff
- Advising cash equities trading desks and related support functions
- Negotiating and documenting agreements with customers, clients, providers, vendors, venues, and peers
- Providing legal guidance across a range of matters primarily related to the global equities markets
- Advising on corporate, commercial, intellectual property, securities, and banking law matters affecting the equities platform
- Drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements covering sales, execution, secondary trading, and technology agreements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with an internationally known law firm or in house at an investment bank or similar financial services provider
- Significant experience advising on commercial agreements, licensing, intellectual property and/or regulatory matters involving corporate, securities and banking law matters
- Basic understanding of U.S. equities market structure
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Sound judgment
- 3-5 years experience in the above referenced practice area (desired)
- Knowledge of derivatives products and related documentation a plus
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, particularly with clients
