About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and manage employee relations strategies for one or more lines of business
  • Direct and facilitate resolutions to complex employee relations matters with HR leaders, control partners, and stakeholders
  • Set strategy for and lead employee relations initiatives
  • Collaborate on enterprise initiatives and oversee conduct governance routines to mitigate employment risks
  • Support Conduct Councils and related governance routines
  • Prepare committee-level reporting and analysis
  • Manage regulatory reporting and related requests
  • Develop and execute conduct training in partnership with the Academy
  • Lead the year-end conduct review process, including performance restrictions, incentive impact, base pay restrictions, and outlier rationale
  • Perform thematic analysis of conduct data
  • Develop and analyze metrics
  • Manage risk and controls and operational excellence initiatives
  • Own process documentation in POP
  • Serve as primary liaison with Audit, Legal, Risk, and Compliance
  • Provide cyclical and ad hoc conduct reporting using Tableau and Excel
  • Influence senior stakeholders and package reporting materials for Audit, Risk, the Board, and regulators
  • Identify process improvements, build consensus, and enhance future processes
  • Lead work featured with senior company leaders and the Board
  • Oversee decision-making and stakeholder management for high-risk, complex employee relations cases
  • Determine performance management guidelines for individual lines of business
  • Define employee relations service-delivery strategy and lead subject matter experts
  • Influence strategic HR decisions and outcomes while managing risk as a control partner
  • Evolve the Employee Relations function to drive efficiency and mitigate risks

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years knowledge and experience working with HR, Risk Management, Global Banking, Global Markets and/or Merrill or Private Bank
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience
  • Ability to assimilate complex data into a results-based story and present results effectively
  • Ability to develop concise, executive-level presentations
  • Strong enterprise mindset and ability to apply nuance based on business need
  • Strong project management skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills
  • Ability to communicate and analyze multi-dimensional data, draw conclusions, and evaluate business gaps and risks
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle quantitative data and identify end-to-end impacts
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and focused on continuous improvement
  • Problem-solving, consultative approach, and client service mentality
  • Ability to drive issues through completion with urgency
