About the role
- Drive the flow of clients and pets through the hospital to maximize productivity of the veterinary medical team
- Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services and route client/pet flow to ensure superior care
- Maximize number of pets seen to support wellness plan clients
- Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service; welcome clients and pets and ensure comfort
- Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care, pet health needs and hospital services
- Assist incoming clients: complete required documentation, enter pet information/history in computer, use proper collars/tags for ID
- Assist outgoing clients: provide instructions, information and invoices; dispense prescription items per veterinarian instructions; sell retail products; schedule future appointments
- Manage finances: maintain accurate balances and follow proper opening and closing procedures
- Conduct administrative functions as necessary and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography (x-ray) and exposure to radioactive substances
- One year of related experience required (customer service preferred)
- Medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) with medical terminology training preferred
- Ability to multi-task; manage multiple tasks accurately under distracting conditions
- Reads, writes and speaks fluent English; strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational ability; systematic approach to assignments
- Problem solving skills; translate problems into practical solutions
- Client service skills; deliver attentive, courteous and informative service
- Intellectual ability to accurately follow oral, written or diagram instructions
- Mathematical ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and convert units
- Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and specialized software
- Initiative, integrity, cooperativeness, flexibility, independence, and resiliency
- Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time
- Comfortable and confident around pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.)
- Willingness to work weekends and evenings; client needs and work volume may require >40 hours/week
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Visual acuity requirements (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception)
- Possible exposure to biting/scratching pets, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances
