About the role

  • Drive the flow of clients and pets through the hospital to maximize productivity of the veterinary medical team
  • Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services and route client/pet flow to ensure superior care
  • Maximize number of pets seen to support wellness plan clients
  • Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service; welcome clients and pets and ensure comfort
  • Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care, pet health needs and hospital services
  • Assist incoming clients: complete required documentation, enter pet information/history in computer, use proper collars/tags for ID
  • Assist outgoing clients: provide instructions, information and invoices; dispense prescription items per veterinarian instructions; sell retail products; schedule future appointments
  • Manage finances: maintain accurate balances and follow proper opening and closing procedures
  • Conduct administrative functions as necessary and perform other duties as assigned
  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography (x-ray) and exposure to radioactive substances
  • One year of related experience required (customer service preferred)
  • Medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) with medical terminology training preferred
  • Ability to multi-task; manage multiple tasks accurately under distracting conditions
  • Reads, writes and speaks fluent English; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational ability; systematic approach to assignments
  • Problem solving skills; translate problems into practical solutions
  • Client service skills; deliver attentive, courteous and informative service
  • Intellectual ability to accurately follow oral, written or diagram instructions
  • Mathematical ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and convert units
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and specialized software
  • Initiative, integrity, cooperativeness, flexibility, independence, and resiliency
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time
  • Comfortable and confident around pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.)
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings; client needs and work volume may require >40 hours/week
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Visual acuity requirements (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception)
  • Possible exposure to biting/scratching pets, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances
