About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Overseeing the expansion of expertise and methodologies used for QC testing at various Balchem sites.
  • Supporting global quality initiatives, including standardizing methodologies across sites.
  • Assisting in procurement and validation of new equipment.
  • Developing robust instrumentation systems to drive high-quality, efficient laboratory operations throughout the company.
  • Leading and supporting instrument qualification, validation, and revalidation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) across global QC laboratories.
  • Providing onsite technical training to laboratory staff on instrument operation, troubleshooting, and analytical techniques as needed.
  • Serving as a technical lead for method development, optimization, and transfer between sites to ensure alignment and reproducibility.
  • Driving standardization of analytical methodologies and instrumentation platforms across global labs.
  • Supporting procurement, specification, and commissioning of laboratory equipment, including development of long-term capital expenditure (CapEx) plans.
  • Establishing and maintaining global best practices for instrument lifecycle management, calibration, and maintenance strategies.
  • Collaborating with site Quality leaders to support regulatory compliance, particularly as it relates to instrumentation and method performance.
  • Partnering with Quality Systems and IT teams to ensure proper integration of instrumentation with laboratory data systems.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Quality Systems, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience with analytical instrumentation (e.g., ICP, HPLC/UPLC, FTIR, titration systems, particle size, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of instrument validation and method development in regulated laboratory environments.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements related to instrumentation, validation, and technical competence
  • Excellent communication, training, and project management skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed (25-50%)
