About the role
- Serve as lead FP engineer and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues for engineering staff
- Participate in the design of fire protection systems and coordinate with other disciplines on projects performing calculations and attending review meetings
- Create detailed plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by
- Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects
- Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by staff
- Communicate and collaborate with other department managers across all office locations
- Prepare and deliver various internal and external engineering-related presentations
- Perform department leader activities including hiring, coaching and training of staff
Requirements
- 7+ years professional experience in fire protection engineering/design
- PE/FPE license required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required
- Advanced working knowledge of building codes, Fire codes, NFPA Standards and FM Global Data Sheets
- Proficient in standard engineering procedures with proven critical thinking ability
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive as part of a team.
- Team supervisory experience
- Proficient relevant software skills including Revit, Bluebeam, BIM and MS office
- Skilled technical writer
