Supplier Quality Project Engineer – Nuclear
Baker HughesSupplier Quality Engineer overseeing the Supplier Quality aspect of nuclear projects at Baker Hughes. Ensuring compliance and proper execution in a highly regulated environment with a focus on documentation and risk management.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the SQE workstream and maintain the deliverables plan (qualification, audits, inspections, document reviews, validations/releases) while reporting progress and risks to project governance.
- Coordinate notifications for witness points / hold points / inspections and ensure follow-up.
- Facilitate the qualification team to review, validate and approve supplier documentation and results.
- Define and coordinate risk-based surveillance with hold points / witness points proportionate to the scope’s complexity and criticality, and adjusted according to supplier performance.
- Apply RCC‑M, ISO 19443, ASME III, ESPN/PED, IAEA or client-specific requirements, and review relevant project deliverables.
- Drive NCR activities and problem resolution, verify the effectiveness of corrective actions, incorporate prevention and lessons learned, manage the supplier risk matrix/scorecard and lead improvement plans.
- Represent the SQE function at client/authority meetings, readiness reviews and audits, and align inspection/test strategies and documentation expectations.
- Participate in the RFQ phase and upstream supplier scouting with Procurement to support project bids and help develop a high-performing supply chain for projects.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Proficiency with quality and project management tools.
- Significant experience in Supplier Quality / Quality Assurance / Project Quality in the nuclear sector, with direct execution at supplier sites.
- Proven application of RCC‑M, ISO 19443, ASME III, ESPN/PED or IAEA requirements.
- Operational experience with audits (ISO 19011 principles), qualification management, ITPs / hold points, source inspections and NCR management.
- Recognized functional leadership with demonstrated ability for resource planning, workload balancing, prioritization and coordination with the SQE People Leader to ensure on-time deliverables.
- Clear, concise communicator capable of stakeholder management, influencing without hierarchical authority, setting priorities and meeting deadlines in a matrixed environment.
- Bilingual French/English and willing to travel up to 50%.
