About the role
- Ensure initial and continued certifications for assigned products.
- Sustaining engineering - Provides oversight of Product Regulatory Compliance maintenance activities for assigned product line(s).
- Specialized focus with materials and compliance with NSF, UL. CSA, FM, RoHS, EPA and similar regulations.
- Evaluate pending/upcoming regulatory & environmental changes and recommend course or action for Badger Meter to take in order to support compliance.
- May attend agency discussion meetings to offer Badger Meter’s position to upcoming regulation changes as needed.
- Acts as NPD or another Project lead engineer for Product Regulatory Compliance actions.
- Interface with corporate legal counsel to discuss impact of proposed regulatory changes.
- Ensures company procedures are followed
- Defines the scope of a tasks/project related to product certifications.
- Develops or provides input to schedules and budgets.
- Obtain Agency Certification quotations from global agencies relative to new/maintenance projects; prepare associated Purchase Request documentation
- Draft, gain approval and publish product self-declarations, as required
- Develops Wetted Part Lists (WPLs) with Lead Engineer, as required.
- Recommends best Regulatory path to satisfy Product Marketing Specification requirements.
- Coordinate transfer of test samples to agencies/testing resources and publishing latest versions of test reports and certification documents.
- Represent the business at periodic agency surveillance audits to ensure continued certification approvals.
- Coordinate resolution of Non Conformances resulting from periodic surveillance audits.
- Executes schedule/budget to meet targets per approved project schedule.
- Supports Engineering and Operations for product/process performance.
- Acts as a mentor to other engineers
- Support engineering change processes
Requirements
- 5+ or more years of related experience required, 8+ years desired
- Professional Engineer (PE) Registration, preferred or Post-Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or equivalent for Engineering or Engineering Management) preferred
- Strong product knowledge (across multiple products)
- Strong analytics skills
- Ability to define the resources and time to complete projects
- Independently solve problems and implement solutions
- Ability to determine risk and define mitigation methods
- Communicate status and solutions to management
- Ability to generate basic financial/business justifications and recommendations
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team
- Demonstrates ability to drive projects to completion
- Ability to work autonomously and self-directed
- Demonstrates appropriate Judgement/decision-making / for their level of authority
- Demonstrates expertise in at least 1 product and/or discipline
