About the role

  • Lead and grow a collaborative team of 7 engineers who ship great software that customers and sellers love
  • Develop your team members through ongoing coaching, mentoring, and creating a learning environment
  • Create a team environment where everyone feels they belong, are challenged, and are supported to do their best work
  • Establish open communication and a culture of feedback between team members
  • Support delivery proficiency by removing impediments, finding improvements, and facilitating effective decisions
  • Collaborate with product peers and other groups to align team objectives with company initiatives and to promote trade-in's mission throughout Back Market
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives and discussions about standards, practices, and technical direction
  • Partner with other engineering managers and tech leads to drive cross-team initiatives
  • Contribute to organizational planning and help shape the future of our engineering organization
  • Influence engineering culture and best practices beyond your immediate team
  • Work in an agile "build it and run it" environment where your team builds, launches, monitors, and supports what they own
  • Ensure customers and sellers complete the trade-in journey successfully without friction
  • Guide technical decisions while empowering your team to own solutions
  • Be hands-on when needed, leveraging your technical background to unblock and support the team

Requirements

  • A strong engineering experience and proven track record in engineering management or equivalent leadership roles
  • A proven track record of growing, developing, and guiding people and teams
  • Experience in influencing across teams and collaborating with senior stakeholders
  • An enthusiasm about reaching new levels of effectiveness and quality with your team
  • Openness to receiving and giving feedback in a safe workplace
  • Interest in working where leaders support their teams by removing impediments and enabling great work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Experience working in agile development teams and "build it and run it" environments
