About the role
- Lead complex mechanical systems engineering at the heart of the UK’s defence infrastructure
- Maintain and control modifications to mechanical building services across nuclear and non-nuclear facilities
- Shape engineering solutions that underpin national defence
- Ensure compliance with nuclear site licence conditions, regulatory frameworks, and industry design standards
- Collaborate with specialists across engineering disciplines
- Influence project delivery from concept to completion
- Support design reviews to ensure subcontractor designs meet standards
- Manage technical documentation and engineering drawings.
Requirements
- Familiarity with energy reduction strategies and decarbonisation for buildings
- Extensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles
- Detailed knowledge and experience of BREEAM, DREAM and Building Regulations
- Experience within a design consultancy or contractor design environment
- Ability to manage a small team of engineers
- Strong understanding of applicable regulations and technical standards related to mechanical services system design.
- Degree-level qualification (Level 7) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, or lower-level with significant experience
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Additional mechanical systems, nuclear or building-services-related professional training - Desirable
- Security Clearance required for this role.
