About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in all product development phases: discovery, prototyping, solution proposal, implementation, review, testing, and deployment of learning experiences
- Shape product requirements with product partners, write technical specifications, agree interface contracts with backend and partner teams, slice the backlog, and build features
- Build prototypes to de-risk product ideas and feed learnings back into product development
- Design and evolve the public API of a distributable Swift package with deliberate versioning and breaking-change discipline
- Integrate the Swift package into Babbel's main iOS app, including integration points, A/B experiments, and rollout
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, subject matter experts, cross-platform engineers, and other cross-functional teams
- Maintain and improve the technology stack, build system, and AI-agent conventions
- Create technical documentation and share knowledge with colleagues and iOS engineers across Babbel
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience building scalable iOS applications using Swift
- Active adoption of AI coding tools, including directing agents through feature work and critically reviewing their output
- Strong, up-to-date Swift, including Swift 6 strict concurrency, actors, Sendable, isolation, and structured concurrency
- Deep SwiftUI experience and knowledge of the Apple ecosystem and Human Interface Guidelines
- Experience with state-driven UI, unidirectional data flow architecture, and testable architecture
- Experience writing deterministic, exhaustive unit tests, snapshot tests, and maintaining CI/CD discipline
- Experience designing module boundaries, frameworks, or SDKs consumed by other teams, ideally distributable Swift packages
- Experience designing or consuming evolving JSON APIs and collaborating with contract-first backend teams
- Ability to make architectural decisions based on feature requirements and balance technical debt against delivery speed
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast iteration
- Clear, concise communication and openness to feedback
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Nice to have: The Composable Architecture, Point-Free ecosystem, agentic coding setups, Tuist, Swift Testing, real-time client features, RxSwift/MVVM-C, and experience in language learning, education technology, or consumer subscription products
