About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and review complex business and individual tax returns
  • Set up and conduct year-end tax planning projections
  • Provide proactive strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize clients’ financial outcomes
  • Maintain consistent client communication and address tax-related questions and needs
  • Research complex tax situations and develop innovative client solutions
  • Identify opportunities for additional value-added tax advisory services
  • Deliver clean, polished, and accurate work while identifying deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities
  • Review and manage staff-prepared tax returns and keep engagements on schedule
  • Train and mentor staff and provide tax-related guidance
  • Sign less-complex tax returns as appropriate
  • Prepare and manage responses to tax notices and correspondence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA required
  • Minimum of 6–8+ years of tax preparation experience, preferably in a public accounting firm
  • Experience with tax seasons at other public accounting firms highly desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace (G Suite), and basic computer skills required
  • Familiarity with CCH Axcess Tax, PDFlyer, Podio, ShareFile, and QuickBooks/Xero is a plus
  • Strong experience with U.S. business and individual taxation, particularly business tax matters
  • Experience preparing and reviewing complex business and individual tax returns
  • Knowledge of proactive tax planning and tax strategy
  • Ability to research complex tax matters and translate findings into practical, value-added client solutions
  • Experience reviewing staff-prepared returns, mentoring team members, and providing technical tax guidance
  • Strong client-facing and relationship-management skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accurate, polished work
  • Ability to manage multiple tax engagements, priorities, and deadlines
