About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform periodic cost reviews 1–2 times per week to analyze trends and identify suspicious costs.
Investigate root causes of cost anomalies across AWS and AI providers including Anthropic and OpenAI.
Prepare data-driven cost optimization proposals for engineering leads.
Maintain FinOps documentation, tagging guidelines, and cost-allocation frameworks.
Implement and maintain resource tagging strategies.
Contribute to internal cost optimization and monitoring automations.
Participate in R&D initiatives to build custom AI agents for automated cost tracking and anomaly prevention.
Help design and maintain shared Terraform modules.
Monitor and mitigate risks related to overprovisioning, misconfigurations, and unforeseen spending.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, cloud usage guidelines, and AI service budgets.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Understanding of AWS services and pricing models, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS
Proficiency with AWS Cost Explorer and AWS Budgets
Familiarity with AI provider usage and billing for Anthropic and OpenAI
Experience with scripting and automation using Python and Bash
Familiarity with Terraform and interest in building shared modules or AI tools
Experience in root cause analysis of cost anomalies and drafting structured proposals
Strong attention to detail regarding internal documentation and cost tracking
Knowledge of FinOps practices, frameworks, and cost allocation principles
Ability to communicate complex technical and financial information clearly to engineering teams
Strong interpersonal skills for constructive anomaly investigation and driving proactive cost-saving habits
