About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance matters related to oil and gas exploration, production, and transportation, including environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and land use issues.
  • Draft and negotiate oil and gas agreements, including leases, joint operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, processing agreements, and pipeline contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government laws and regulations.
  • Provide expert legal advice and support to energy-sector clients.
  • Collaborate with leading Oil & Gas clients to shape legal strategies and drive business success.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active bar license in the state in which you reside.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience practicing law, focused on oil and gas law.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state laws and regulations governing the oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge of the Mineral Leasing Act, Clean Air Act, and Natural Gas Act.
  • Experience with EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) agreements.
  • Experience advising on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas transactions and projects.
  • Experience with energy commodities, especially pipelines and terminals.
  • Experience counseling on energy compliance matters.
  • Energy-specific data centre experience involving acquisitions, leases, commercial contracts, power purchase agreements, power supply, or utilities.
  • FERC regulatory experience.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to advise clients effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Necessary legal authorization to work; employment may be contingent on a background check and proof of identity.
