About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare, draft, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications across a variety of technical disciplines
- Develop and manage strategic patent portfolios aligned with clients' business objectives
- Partner with inventors, engineers, scientists, and business stakeholders to identify and protect new innovations
- Conduct invention disclosure reviews, patentability assessments, and freedom-to-operate analyses
- Provide strategic counseling on patent prosecution, portfolio development, licensing, and intellectual property risk
- Coordinate with outside counsel and foreign associates on global patent prosecution matters
- Support technology commercialization, licensing, and innovation initiatives
- Stay current on developments in patent law and emerging technologies affecting clients' businesses
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6–15+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
- Strong patent drafting and prosecution experience in one or more of the following technical areas:
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Computer Science / Software
- Artificial Intelligence
- Energy Storage & Battery Technologies
- Electrical Engineering
- Life Sciences
- Excellent written communication and technical drafting skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams
