About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead all engineering functions at the Mt. Clemens plant
- Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing processes and infrastructure
- Drive capital project execution, process optimization, and long-term site strategy
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team across multiple disciplines
- Set performance expectations, ensure accountability, and build bench strength through talent development, succession planning, and recruitment
- Provide engineering support for safe, stable, and efficient plant operations
- Lead troubleshooting of complex process and equipment issues
- Drive improvements in asset reliability, uptime, and process capability
- Partner with Maintenance on reliability-centered maintenance strategies
- Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management, OSHA, and environmental regulations
- Own and govern PHA, MOC, PSSR, and JHA safety processes
- Lead risk mitigation activities and ensure safe process design and operation
- Develop and execute the site capital plan
- Manage project execution from concept through commissioning
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives
- Partner with corporate engineering teams on long-term strategy
- Drive Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Use data and metrics to improve cost efficiency, throughput, and quality performance
- Lead FMEAs, root cause analysis, and process optimization
- Manage Engineering capital and expense budgets
- Allocate resources across priorities and deliver cost control
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, EH&S, and Maintenance
- Serve as a key member of the site leadership team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred
- 7+ years of progressive engineering experience, including leadership responsibility
- Experience in chemical or manufacturing environments
- Ability to lead teams and influence across functions
- Experience with Process Safety Management and Process Hazard Analysis processes
- Experience with capital project execution
- Experience with budget management
- Ability to support off-shift or weekend needs as required
- Manufacturing / plant environment experience or willingness to work in that environment
- Lean / Six Sigma certification preferred
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar capital projects preferred
- Knowledge of controls/automation systems preferred
