Human Resources Specialist
AvoltaHR Specialist providing administrative and operational support to the People & Culture department at Charleston International Airport. Responsible for executing core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as an onsite HR representative, supporting operations management and hourly team members
- Assist in the implementation of corporate and local People & Culture initiatives
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, and internal policies
- Coordinate and support confidential investigations and employee relations matters
- Identify and address HR-related issues, maintaining confidentiality and escalating when appropriate
- Partner with operations to ensure compliance with airport and landlord policies and expectations
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, and onboarding logistics
- Respond to team member inquiries regarding compensation, scheduling, policies, and general concerns
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems; perform administrative tasks including data entry, reporting, and document retention
- Facilitate new hire orientation to ensure a positive and compliant onboarding experience
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2–4 years of administrative experience, ideally in HR
- 1+ year of hospitality, food & beverage, or retail experience preferred
- Combined education and experience must exceed 2 years
- Coursework toward HR certification or demonstrated knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices required
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
- Able to interpret and simplify policies and legal documents for team understanding
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; skilled in creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
- Comfortable using HRIS and business systems; quick to learn new technologies
