About the role

  • Execute the development of power electronics systems by understanding requirements, defining technological solutions and architectures, and coordinating integration, calibration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Define and Review CAN communication architecture (inputs/outputs) and software behavior logic (e.g., fault handling, safe shutdown, error signaling).
  • Ensure compliance with automotive standards and regulations.
  • Operate within AVL’s reference project organization for product development.
  • Coordinate collaboration between customers, engineering domains, skill areas, and suppliers.
  • Act as technical lead within the power electronics system development project.
  • Document and present development solutions and test results to stakeholders, including release documentation.
  • Contribute to project planning and participate in project meetings.
  • Coordinate and execute performance analysis to optimize the power electronics system.
  • Support project time-planning and deliverable generation.
  • Maintain documentation within the development toolchain, including system descriptions, requirements, solutions, and test cases.
  • Manage integration and validation plans for the power electronics system.
  • Define test cases and sequences according to the verification plan.
  • Monitor test execution and report deviations.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for milestone and quality gate reviews.
  • Apply system development processes and methods, understanding both generic and product-specific approaches.
  • Stay updated with technological trends and development methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot specific technical issues related to power electronics systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of power electronics, in particular power electronics, including their functions and integration within the vehicle architecture.
  • Basic understanding of several other vehicle systems.
  • Solid understanding of in-vehicle communication networks (e.g., CAN).
  • Experience with requirements engineering tools.
  • Previous experience in OEM or Tier 1 projects.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (DOORS, Polarion or similar).
  • Knowledge of simulation and modeling environments (Simulink, SysML).
  • Familiarity with modern development processes and methods.
  • Ability to manage the lifecycle of systems engineering items and work-products.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
