About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop new features and capabilities for actuarial applications built with R Shiny
  • Design and enhance user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Develop shared JavaScript components to improve maintainability and accelerate feature development
  • Refactor R code to leverage reusable JavaScript components where appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Education or equivalent experience in a quantitative discipline such as actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field
  • Strong JavaScript, HTML, and CSS skills
  • Experience structuring UI codebases for maintainability
  • Ability to independently design and implement user interfaces
  • Experience with R or other analytical programming languages such as Python or SAS
  • R experience strongly preferred and willingness to learn R
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing, code review, and effort estimation
  • Ability to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, and technologies
  • Experience customizing R Shiny components using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience using agentic development tools to improve, refactor, or generate code
