About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure thorough technical review and in-depth analysis of complementary engineering designs (structural, sanitary/plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) and their coordination.
  • Lead technical meetings with designers and internal interfaces, completing and maintaining checklists to ensure full maturity of designs before construction starts.
  • Structure and detail macro and micro schedules for construction using MS Project, including execution schedules, procurement schedules, descriptive technical reports and compilation of the executive technical file.
  • Systematically identify and analyze the critical path (CPM) of schedules, proactively alert the field engineering team and define specific acceleration/mitigation action plans.
  • Provide analytical support to the estimating team regarding the progress and evolution of complementary designs.
  • Critically analyze costs (using linear methods, ABC Curve or comparisons), ensuring that proposed engineering solutions in the designs remain within the tolerance of the initial investment budget.
  • Monitor execution deadlines for each investment through monthly schedule tracking, performing physical measurements of progress, preparing periodic follow-up reports and recovery (catch-up) plans.
  • Technically structure tendering processes for construction and specific services, preparing spreadsheets, scopes of work and specification documents in advance to speed up procurement at project start.
  • Identify, record and manage risks, open issues, change requests (claims) and lessons learned in accordance with the area methodology.
  • Prepare weekly reports on the status of each project to inform coordination, internal clients and operational areas.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1. Technical Tools (Hardware & Software) — Mandatory (Advanced proficiency):
  • MS Project: Full mastery for creating the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), linking tasks, defining baselines, assigning resources/costs and, especially, managing the Critical Path (CPM) and calculating float.
  • Advanced Excel: Ability to build automated spreadsheets for linear cost analysis, lookup and reference formulas (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), pivot tables, monitoring charts (such as S-curve and resource histograms) and measurement reports.
  • AutoCAD: Fluency in reading, navigating, measuring and manipulating technical drawing sheets (architecture, structure and installations) to carry out reviews and identify clashes.
  • Desirable / Differentials:
  • BIM coordination software (e.g., Navisworks, Solibri or BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud): Highly valued for professionals who perform automated clash detection on 3D models.
  • Power BI: Ability to extract data from MS Project/Excel and consolidate it into visual, dynamic dashboards for weekly status reporting to coordination and management.
  • Primavera P6: Knowledge of the tool is considered a plus for managing a portfolio of multiple simultaneous investments.
  • 2. Education — Mandatory:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Active and regular professional registration with CREA (Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy).
  • Desirable / Postgraduate (Strong Differentials):
  • Specialization or MBA in Project Management (aligned with market best practices).
  • Postgraduate degree in Planning and Control of Works or Cost Engineering.
  • Extension courses focused on Coordination of Complementary Designs or Building Services Engineering (Electrical, Sanitary, HVAC).
  • 3. Market Certifications — Although not strictly required for daily work, the certifications below attest to the professional's technical maturity in consulting engineering and PMO:
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) — awarded by PMI: Demonstrates proficiency in integrated management of scope, time, cost, risks, changes and lessons learned.
  • IBEC / AACE International certifications: Certifications focused on Cost Engineering (technical or specialist) that validate the professional's ability to critically analyze ABC Curves, executive budgets and CAPEX deviations.
  • BIM Methodology Certification: Certified courses that demonstrate the professional's ability to coordinate project workflows within the BIM methodology.
  • 4. Technical Skills and Specific Knowledge (Hard Skills):
  • Critical review of complementary designs: Refined technical ability to analyze and identify errors, omissions or geometric and flow incompatibilities between Structural designs (reinforced/prestressed concrete, steel) and Building Systems (sanitary/plumbing, electrical, data, HVAC, fire protection).
  • Advanced Cost Engineering: Mastery in budget analysis using ABC Curve (materials and services), linear price analysis, contract adjustments and ability to identify whether proposed design solutions exceed the initial budget cap (Target/CAPEX).
  • Procurement Planning: Knowledge in preparing technical packages for tender (structuring bidding documents, terms of reference, draft specifications and complete quantity spreadsheets) so that procurement processes occur before site mobilization.
  • Risk and Claims Management: Ability to identify risks associated with design delays and supplier deliveries, record them in risk matrices, and handle change order requests in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Production Methodologies: Understanding of Lean Construction concepts, Line of Balance and Front-End Loading (FEL) practices to ensure project maturity during initial planning phases.
