About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Leverage data to understand team and operational division performance, and lead improvement activities through to implementation.
- Work closely with your team to fully understand employees’ skills, as well as the performance of your management unit and the operating environment.
- Make data-driven decisions and monitor the environment to identify performance barriers.
- Mobilize data, frontline insights, and employee expertise to improve overall performance and outcomes.
- Ensure the quality assurance program is in place and fit for purpose, and that its results are used to assess the effectiveness of performance management, training, and overall governance within the claims function.
- Fully understand operational risks, meet compliance obligations, and assess the degree to which the team complies with these requirements.
- Manage and monitor the financial activities of the National Claims Service, including claim reserves and expenditures.
- Support planning and lead the implementation of enterprise and National Claims Service initiatives, ensuring that business line execution requirements are met.
- Leverage systems and technology to streamline processes and increase efficiency and productivity.
- Manage key partnerships.
- Provide input to the Vice President, Claims, to guide future strategic direction and changes, including annual business planning and priority setting.
- Monitor resources, workload, and task allocation within the team; identify opportunities for workforce sharing with other parts of the business when needed.
- Continue to develop engaged, talented employees ready to grow and take on new challenges across various roles within Aviva.
- Provide support and guidance to the Claims Learning & Development team and Human Capital department regarding recruitment and capability-building for our employees.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post-secondary degree or diploma plus a professional insurance designation such as PAA or FPAA.
- Proven claims experience across multiple lines of insurance, with recognized expertise in auto property damage, and approximately 7–10 years of technical claims-handling experience, supported by a strong knowledge of insurance products and related business sectors.
- Significant leadership experience in an operational claims environment or call centre, including 5–7 years in a senior-level role.
- Strong focus on execution and a clear commitment to continuous improvement, demonstrated by designing and implementing effective process improvements and engaging teams through change.
- Proven experience in performance management and employee career development.
- Operational management skills, including experience translating strategies into effective technical and operational processes.
- Proven ability to deliver results through collaborative, results-oriented relationships with multiple internal and external partners.
