About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process and monitor inbound and outbound SWIFT transaction messages
- Validate settlement instructions and ensure message obligations are met
- Set up and match trades on CDS, Arrow or SWIFT
- Settle foreign and domestic equity trades within CDS and DTC systems, including equity option settlements
- Process and distribute SWIFT messages as settlement instructions for trades to be booked and settled
- Match trade confirmations with other institutions
- Resolve unmatched or unprocessed trades with counterparties, brokerage firms and custodians
- Ensure trades are processed and settled within required time frames
- Balance and correct processing outages using CDS and Dataphile reports
- Track, maintain and update failed trades and failure reasons
- Balance monthly statements from external sources
- Follow settlements policies and procedures and create the SWIFT process manual
- Track and maintain daily settlement files and records
- Work varying hours, including possible statutory holidays or weekends, based on industry demands and volume
- Perform other duties and assist colleagues as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
- 2+ years' experience in an office environment, preferably in the securities industry
- Experience using Dataphile, CDS and DTC
- 1-3 years’ experience of SWIFT operations is an asset
- Industry related certifications are not required
- Successful completion of the CSC (Canadian Securities Course) or IFIC Operations course is an asset
- Ability to work independently within company and regulatory requirements
- Self-motivated and results driven
- Strong administration skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong organizational, time management and decision-making skills
- Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office knowledge
- Fluent communication skills in English are required
- Bilingual skills in French are an asset
