About the role
- Lead the administration of the company’s duty drawback program, including data collection, claim preparation, submission, and tracking.
- Ensure all drawback claims meet U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements and timelines.
- Maintain detailed records to support drawback filings and audit readiness.
- Analyze import/export data to maximize recovery opportunities and improve financial outcomes.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external brokers to ensure accurate and compliant drawback processes.
- Interpret and apply international trade laws, customs regulations, and export controls (e.g., EAR, ITAR, OFAC).
- Ensure accurate product classification, including HTS, Schedule B, and ECCN codes.
- Review, audit and validate import/export documentation for compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with logistics, supply chain, procurement, and sales teams to ensure compliant movement of goods.
- Support preparation of export licenses, customs declarations, certificates of origin, and other trade-related documents.
- Maintain compliance-related records in accordance with regulatory retention standards.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on trade compliance processes, including duty drawback requirements.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for trade compliance questions across the organization.
- Partner with legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure alignment with trade policy and strategy.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, logistics, or duty drawback administration.
- Knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, export controls, and drawback requirements.
- Strong analytical and data management skills.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CCS, CES, CUSECO).
- Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and drawback specialists.
- Familiarity with free trade agreements and country-of-origin determination processes.
- Experience with global trade management systems (e.g., SAP, ACE, E2Open, Snap-R)
