About the role

  • Commission the company’s automated storage solutions (pallet shuttles, tote shuttles, AMRs) and ancillary equipment (conveyors, lifts)
  • Setup, configure, interface, and integrate systems with customer Warehouse Control Systems and IT systems
  • Lead complete commissioning process including preparation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, Go Live, reporting and signoff
  • Configure PLC software, perform live testing, and validate communication protocols, sensors, instrumentation, and safety devices
  • Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting during commissioning, go-live, and support service interventions
  • Create and deliver comprehensive reports, technical procedures, and customer training for integrators, maintenance and operations staff
  • Identify technical challenges, recommend system optimizations, and report commercial Service opportunities to management
  • Work at various customer sites (including cold storage and at heights) and collaborate with international teams

Requirements

  • Experience with installing/commissioning automated systems, ideally in material handling/automation/robotics
  • Strong working knowledge of electromechanical, robotic, and automated systems
  • Ideally experience with PLC programming, VFD configuration and/or conveyor systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (ideally Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, or Controls Engineering)
  • Affinity with programming languages and command line terminal preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites across the USA and Canada consistently (travel ~90%)
  • Live in commutable distance to office in Romeoville, IL, Northwestern Indiana, or Indianapolis, IN
  • Ability to work at heights and in cold storage environments, using appropriate safety gear
  • Ability to perform PLC software configuration, live testing, troubleshooting, and system integration
  • Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends during go-live and tradeshows
  • Collaboration with international (European) colleagues during overlapping morning hours
  • Office hours 8 am – 5 pm CST but variable depending on project site
