About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide Avantor solutions to customers across the Biopharma, Education & Government market segments
  • Manage a diverse territory across multiple market segments
  • Prospect and establish new customers by managing a sales pipeline and developing and delivering proposals
  • Sell consultatively, detail products, determine customer needs, and recommend Avantor solutions
  • Develop and execute a territory business plan to drive revenue growth, achieve quota attainment, and expand market share
  • Work with sales management to provide proposals and implement sales strategies
  • Build and sustain customer relationships and ensure satisfaction and loyalty
  • Manage Avantor’s product portfolio and implement company sales and marketing strategies
  • Expand Avantor’s role with existing customers through retention strategies
  • Leverage company marketing plans, strategies, and sales processes
  • Represent and develop relationships with manufacturers
  • Work with local manufacturer representatives to improve product knowledge, pricing, and account profitability
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conduct daily in-person sales activities across Albuquerque and the broader New Mexico market
  • Travel extensively throughout the region to customer locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College degree or equivalent/applicable experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a complex sales environment involving multiple purchasing decision-makers and solution-based selling
  • Proven, verifiable sales success driving growth through a consultative, strategic selling approach
  • Business-to-business sales experience
  • Distribution sales experience and scientific, laboratory, or research background preferred
  • Experience using selling processes such as SPIN, Challenger, or Miller Heiman
  • Experience with Salesforce.com and Clikview
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Science or Medical Technology background preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage researchers, procurement professionals, laboratory managers, and executive decision-makers
  • Ability to conduct business conversations with business owners and decision-makers
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and interactions
  • Ability to work independently and manage time and territory successfully
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to sell strategically within an account
  • Ability to understand individual customer operations
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations
  • Must reside in or near the Albuquerque/overall New Mexico market
