About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Sell consultatively by detailing products, determining customer needs and requirements, and recommending Avantor solutions to prospects and customers
- Leverage resources to implement company marketing plans, strategies, and sales processes
- Build and sustain customer relationships and ensure satisfaction and loyalty
- Develop strategic territory business plans and strategies with sales management to achieve sales growth and quota attainment
- Manage Avantor’s product portfolio and execute company sales and marketing strategies
- Prospect for and establish new customers by managing a sales pipeline and developing and delivering value-proposition proposals
- Expand Avantor’s role with existing customers through retention strategies aligned with evolving customer requirements
- Represent Avantor and develop strong manufacturer relationships
- Work with local manufacturer representatives to improve product knowledge, obtain favorable pricing, and improve account profitability
- Partner with researchers, scientists, procurement professionals, Sales Representatives, and Specialists across the Raleigh-Durham territory and select Eastern North Carolina accounts
Requirements
What you’ll need- College degree or equivalent/applicable experience; a college degree within the sciences is preferred
- Preferred 3–5 years of experience in a complex, solution-based sales environment involving multiple purchasing decision-makers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Teams
- Preference for experience with CRM systems and QlikSense
- Laboratory or research environment, distribution experience, and/or scientific background preferred
- Excellent communication and team interaction skills with customers, manufacturers, and staff
- Ability to conduct business conversations with business owners and decision-makers
- Ability to work independently and manage time and territory successfully
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to sell strategically within an account
- Ability to understand individual customer operations
- Willingness to travel to customer locations a minimum of 4 days per week
- Must have a valid driver’s license
