About the role
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships as a strategic thinker, problem solver, and creative driver
- Thoroughly understand the science and market dynamics of all assigned products
- Clearly and confidently communicate product knowledge to clients and internal teams
- Provide detailed direction for creative solutions as needed
- Facilitate input sessions and creative meetings as required
- Attend and actively contribute to all strategic planning meetings
- Staff teams as needed, including interviewing and selecting candidates
- Help develop campaigns, push creative boundaries, and write effective marketing copy as needed
- Conduct, attend, and/or monitor performance reviews for all team members to encourage, motivate, and improve performance, ensuring consistency with agency standards
- Oversee and ensure efficient workflow across accounts
- Review all creative work to ensure it is on strategy and evaluate concepts before client presentation
- Participate in new business pitches and contribute to annual creative award submissions
- Efficiently manage and work within deadlines
- Manage challenging situations both internally and with the client
- Build relationships within the group and command respect of direct reports and be able to effectively oversee their responsibilities
- Provide effective direction to creative groups
- Monitor client perceptions of the creative product, and develop any necessary action steps required to ensure comfort levels
- Manage crisis situations and remain focused
- Recommend effective solutions to resolve any crisis situation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, writing, or equivalent field of study
- 10–12 years of professional writing experience, with at least 8 years in pharmaceutical advertising, including extensive work in oncology, gynecologic oncology/women’s health
- Minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience leading creative teams
- Proven ability to produce and recognize outstanding marketing materials across multiple channels
- Extensive writing experience spanning a wide range of therapeutic categories
- Significant experience leading product launches, lifecycle marketing initiatives, and new business development efforts
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Thorough understanding of the market and science of all product(s) assigned to division
- Demonstrated effective management skills in the supervision of direct reports
- Ability to provide insightful and creative interpretation of product research
- Ability to provide sound analysis of clinical data
- Think in terms of business management including demonstrating cost effective ways to increase productivity, manage expenses, etc.
- Exhibit a thorough knowledge of agency policy and procedures
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the medical advertising industry on a routine basis
- Possess a strong comfort level in the presence of the client. Must be able to make presentations on a regular basis.
