About the role

  • Own and evolve core runtime systems, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Make day-to-day systems-level decisions in collaboration with the Technical Director and Technical Art Director.
  • Drive technical standards, code quality, and best practices across the team.
  • Profile, debug, and optimize the game on PC and consoles.
  • Contribute improvements to shared systems to benefit the wider studio.
  • Mentor and support your direct reports, fostering professional growth. As their manager you are responsible for the entire employee life cycle and everything in between.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Provide constructive feedback and career guidance.
  • Ensure the team thrives within the project’s technical direction.
  • Work closely with producers and other leads to maintain smooth project execution.
  • Remove blockers and support high team productivity.
  • Advocate for technical excellence across disciplines.
  • Align your team with broader project goals.
  • Facilitate effective cross-team communication.

Requirements

  • Experienced professional programmer in the gaming industry.
  • Strong C++ and low-level systems expertise.
  • Experience working with games engines in shipped titles or a live project.
  • Experience working with proprietary engines is a plus.
  • At least one current generation console title shipped.
  • Experience with Console platform SDKs.
  • Leadership experience with a focus on mentoring technical teams.
  • Deep understanding of console architectures and performance constraints.
  • Strong communicator and collaborative team player.
  • Commitment to code quality, testing, and robust systems.
