About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own forecasting models: You take full responsibility for the forecasting of our unsecured consumer loan portfolios. You own models, build and enhance them on an ongoing basis.
  • Run and improve monitoring: You track portfolio performance against forecast, surfacing drift, instability, and early warning signals, going beyond dashboards into real diagnosis of what is changing and why.
  • Lead attribution analysis: You decompose actual-versus-forecast variances into their drivers, mix and volume, cohort composition, credit policy and product changes, macro, and collections performance and turn them into clear narratives stakeholders can act on.
  • Build stress-testing and scenarios: You translate macro and business assumptions into portfolio-level outcomes that support planning and strategic decisions.
  • Ensure governance and reproducibility: You own model documentation, assumptions, limitations, validation checks, change logs, and reproducible runs, keeping standards high in a scaling environment.
  • Improve data and pipelines: You work with reporting to strengthen data quality, robust features, automation, and alerting.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong modelling background: You bring solid experience building credit portfolio or asset performance models in banking, fintech, or consumer finance, with a track record of forecasting, monitoring, and attribution work.
  • Technical excellence: You have hands-on command of Python and SQL and are comfortable with statistical, econometric, and where appropriate machine-learning methods with the judgement to keep models as simple as possible, but no simpler.
  • IFRS 9 awareness: You understand IFRS 9 / ECL concepts (staging, lifetime vs. 12-month horizons, scenario thinking) well enough to collaborate effectively with experts and keep your models compatible.
  • Comfort with real-world data: You know how to define defaults, construct cohorts, manage backfills, and you stay pragmatic when data is imperfect.
  • Clear communicator: You explain modelling choices to non-modellers calmly and clearly, without hiding behind jargon, and you turn analysis into decisions.
  • Fintech and innovation driven: You are motivated by a tech-led, entrepreneurial environment and committed to continuous improvement.
