About the role
- Be an active team member conducting research to investigate the use of knowledge graphs and AI agents for AEC workflows
- Conduct literature reviews
- Engage with team members and stakeholders to identify challenges and valuable research opportunities for domain specific ai agents
- Develop new algorithms and build prototypes to test and explore concepts
- Explore new prototyping frameworks and technologies
- Communicate ideas, challenges, solutions, and results effectively within a multidisciplinary team of researchers, software engineers, user experience designers, and industry experts
- Participate in iterative design, testing and development sprints to refine research
- Present research findings to the team and create reports and / or publish academic paper documenting the results
- Work with guidance of a mentor and project team to experiment, validate and implement tangible demonstrations of research
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Construction, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science, AI/ML or related fields
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals
- Proficiency in either Python, C#, Javascript
- Experience with Large Language Models, Knowledge Graphs, and Agentic Frameworks
- Solid understanding of Construction and AECO workflows
- Basic knowledge of Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud or other construction management platforms
- Creative and flexible; enjoyment of working with new technology in a research setting
- Strong communications skills and teamwork experience
- Preferred: Prior experience building AI agents, knowledge graphs, and MCPs
- Preferred: Prior industry experience in an AECO organization
- Preferred: Very strong technical skills in building rapid software prototypes
- Preferred: Experience with modern generative AI tools and frameworks (eg. GPT, Claude, etc.)
- Preferred: Experience with web development frameworks (eg. Three.js, react)
- Preferred: Experience with programming 3D graphics frameworks and APIs
- Preferred: Computational or generative design experience
